The wine list is fab here. Make sure you don't just go for the house wines as there are some superb and well priced options on the menu.
The Orange Tree Restaurant, run by Frank and Irene, is one of the most quaint and inviting restaurants in Old Town Marbella.
Located on the East side of Orange Square, you will immediately feel welcomed and comfortable, with a smiling face always there to greet you and a light and airy atmosphere to enjoy simply delicious food. The Orange Tree is without hesitation a must visit!
The Chef is regularly put through his paces as they change their menus every 6 weeks. In our opinion this keeps the menu inspired and creative. It also allows their regular diners variety on each and every visit - something I personally really enjoy as I often fall into the habit of ordering the same dish every time in other restaurants!
The great selection of starters and main courses sates even the heartiest of appetites, while also catering wonderfully for those of us with a more delicate and lighter palette. The menus are always seasonal and the chefs use the very best fresh local ingredients from the markets.
A variety of fresh, home-made bread is made every day, such as the delicious sage and feta focaccia- served with a tray of tapenade, pickled garlic and butter.
Starters on the lighter spring and summer menus include; pan seared king prawn and chorizo- with a white bean and rocket salad and warm panko coated goat's cheese- with a salad of apple walnut and rocket. Main courses consist of; a mint and herb crusted rack of lamb with rosemary fondant potato, grilled asparagus and red currant jus and pan fried fillets of John Dory with creamy dill mash potato, orange braised fennel and white wine sauce.
Something of interest to those of you that prefer to eat earlier than the majority of us here in Spain is the Orange Tree 'Early Bird'. This is served from 5.30-7pm and offers a reduced price for a 3 course menu.
It's not only the food that is inspired at the Orange Tree, the wine list is also very impressive and offers a fabulous selection of international wines that are not to be found in the local supermarket.
