Description

A PRIVATE walking tour of Marbella combined with a tapas tasting is a wonderful way to really discover the historical and culinary heart of this charming coastal town. Marbella has much more to offer than luxurious beaches and marinas. The old town ('Casco Antiguo') is full of picturesque alleyways, historic buildings and numerous delicious tapas bars. Start your PRIVATE walking tour in the central Alameda Park, a small, lush park with fountains and beautiful tiled benches. This is a relaxed starting point from which you can head straight into the old town. Leave the park and stroll down Avenida del Mar, a wide pedestrian promenade lined with bronze sculptures by the famous artist Salvador Dalí. This open-air art gallery connects the old town with the beach and offers a magnificent view of the sea. From the Avenida del Mar, you walk into the old town. Your first destination is the Plaza de los Naranjos, the central square and the heart of the old town. The square is surrounded by historic buildings and adorned with orange trees and blooming flowers. Here you will find the town hall from the 16th century and the Casa del Corregidor, another important building. Take time to stroll through the narrow, cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses, colorful flowers and small boutiques. The old town is full of small courtyards that invite you to linger, as well as art galleries and souvenir stores. Just a few steps away from the Plaza de los Naranjos is the Church of the Encarnación, the most important religious site in Marbella. This beautiful 16th century church impresses with its baroque façade and richly decorated interior. The visit is free and it is worth enjoying the tranquillity and architectural charm. Stroll through the old town and discover hidden squares such as the Plaza de Santo Cristo with its small chapel or the Plaza Altamirano, where you can enjoy a quiet moment. Continue your walking tour and visit the remains of the Arab city wall, from the time when Marbella was an important Moorish outpost. These walls are among the oldest structures in the city and are a reminder of its long history. From here you have a beautiful view of the surrounding alleyways. Close to the wall you will find the quiet Plaza Puente Ronda, which is perfect for a short break. Here you can soak up the atmosphere of the old town. After the old town, your guide will take you to one of the oldest and trendiest tapas bars for tapas and two drinks. Afterwards, we will visit Marbella's marina and the 'Plaza de la Constitucion', where Marbella's bullring is also located. A lot of information about Marbella and the Costa del Sol will be given to you during this tour.
